James “Jim” McGuire, 89, of Churubusco, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at his home.

He was born in Columbia City, on September 20, 1932, to the late Joseph & Alice (Ardern) McGuire. He spent his formative years in Churubusco, graduating from Churubusco High School.

Jim was married to Jean Butler on October 25, 1996, in Fort Wayne.

Jim owned and operated McGuire Asphalt and retired after 30 years of service. In addition to the asphalt company, he owned a car lot and gas station in Churubusco. In his free time, he farmed 110 acres and raised livestock.

He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He was passionate about his Model A truck. Jim was a member of the Sugar Grove Church of God, where he served as a deacon.

Jim was a kind and humble gentleman. He loved his family and was a man of faith.

James is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jean McGuire; his children, Linda (Michael) Krempel and Dennis J. McGuire; his three stepchildren, Sheila (Mac) Pratt, Christine (Sean) Rawleigh, and Robert Stephens; his brother, Robert (Janet) McGuire; four grandchildren, Angela (Andrew) Baxter, Holly (Randy) Frauenfelder, Brandy (Michael) Hicks, and Andrew (Timbra) McGuire; his four step-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Tori, Alex, and Kassi; ten great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Barbara Pranger, Mary Geiger, and Joan Shanabarger Keller.
