Age 75 of Chesaning passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, August 27, 2018.A Memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Nelson-House Funeral Homes Martin Chapel with Pastor Tim Woycik officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until the service.Jim was born on November 6, 1942 to Byron and Mildred (Croft) Harris in Owosso. After graduating high school, Jim studied at the DNR’s Academy of Natural Resources and became a Conservation Officer. He then joined the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Department as a Marine Officer and later joined the detective bureau, completing his career as a lieutenant. Jim worked for the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Department for 25 years.Jim married Connie Clark on October 26, 1963 in Chesaning; they would have been married 55 years this October. During his life, Jim loved being outdoors, especially for bow hunting whitetail deer, fishing, and golfing. He enjoyed all sports and loved attending Chesaning High School basketball games. Most of all, Jim loved spending time with his family and his many friends.Jim is survived by his loving wife, Connie Harris; his children, Jim Harris and Karen (Mitch) Amman; his grandchildren, Jessica, Chelsea, and Kristen Amman; and his siblings, Sally (Vendel) Pinter and George (Audrey) Harris.He is predeceased by his parents, Byron and Mildred Harris; and his brother, Roy Harris.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Chesaning Sports Boosters or to the family’s wishes.
