James “Jim” Kamos, age 90, of Rensselaer, Ind., passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at St. Vincent Seton Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.
The son of Peter and Laura (Gross) Kominakis, he was born on August 11, 1930 in LaFollette, TN. Jim attended Colfax Township Schools. On May 24, 1950, he married Barbara Phegley, who preceded him in death on February 4, 2011. Jim was a farmer throughout his lifetime. He also worked in the maintenance department for Northway Products for thirty years. After he retired from Northway products, Jim worked at the Rensselaer branch of NAPA and specialized in parts delivery. Jim was a member of Tri-County Bible Church and attended their men’s bible study program. He was also a member of the Men of Valor group. He enjoyed doing word search puzzles and coloring intricate designs in his adult coloring books. His favorite pastime was woodworking.
He is survived by his children, Connie (Karl) Harris of Remington, Ind., Laura (Roger) Godby of Rensselaer, Ind., Christie (Richard) Beattie of Greenwood, Miss., Douglas (Vickie) Kamos of Remington, Ind., Amy (Dennis) Haworth of Carmel, Ind., and Nora (Mark) Skinner of Rensselaer, Ind. Also surviving are twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, an additional two great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on-the-way, and many nieces and nephews. His sister, Christine Blacklidge also survives.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara, his parents, two sisters and one brother.
