James “Jim” Clarity, 66, of West Okoboji passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at his home in West Okoboji. Jim was born on June 21, 1950, in Albert Lea, Minnesota to James Archibald, II, and Georgia Ann (Baldwin) Clarity.
He graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines. While attending college at Iowa State, Jim was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity (SAE). He was also active in the ROTC and was later briefly put into active duty with the US Army. After his honorable discharge, he completed his undergraduate studies at Iowa State University and went on to graduate from Creighton University with a Law Degree. He practiced law for many years in the Spirit Lake community operating out of the Clarity Law Office. Jim enjoyed spending his free time reading and fishing, especially in the Bahamas.
He is survived by his son Jimmy Clarity of Orlando, FL; daughter Cassidy Clarity of San Francisco, CA; mother Georgia Myerly of Milford; 4 brothers, John Myerly of Iowa City, IA; Tim Clarity of Minneapolis, MN; Bill Myerly of Iowa City, IA; and Kevin Clarity of Minneapolis, MN; 6 sisters, Karen Erickson of Minneapolis, MN; Jerrene Myerly of Minneapolis, MN; Ann Homan of New Prague, MN; Mary Textor of Minneapolis, MN; Tara Hata of Cleveland, OH; and Mira Myerly of Minneapolis, MN.
He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Sara Beck; and step-father, William Myerly.
