James (Jim) Pagliocco died peacefully in his home, located in Matthews, NC on December 12, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was 94 years young. Jim was born on a March 9, 1922 in south Boston, MA. to parents Gianina and Carmine. He is survived by his older sister, May, now residing in Florida. His brother John and sister, Rose, are both deceased. Jim served in the 44th Infantry Division from 1943 – 1946. After the war, Jim returned to the US and settled down in New Jersey where he married Suzanne (Sue) Tarantino, his bride of 68 years. In addition to Suzanne,

He is survived by his 3 married children, Stephan and his wife Joan Pagliocco, Karen and her husband, Jim Flanagan, and Jamie and his wife Jamie Pagliocco. Also, he was blessed with 9 grandchildren Jonathan, Eric, Ian, Jenna, Sarah, Lauren, Morgan, Sydney, and Nathaniel (Nat). Jim, with his wife, Sue enjoyed countless hours entertaining extended families, including Carmela and John Siegrist , Ralph and Brenda Tarantino, Tina Nigro, and Lillian and Andrew Giacobbe. Jim was a co-owner of New Providence Disposal in the 1970s, and prior to that, was a United States Postal employee. Jim will be remembered for his numerous contributions to the community including the Long Hill Township Little League, where he coached baseball.

He loved sports, especially Sunday football games. If not watching the NFL, one could remember Jim enjoying his music, especially Tony Bennett, Billy Eckstine and Chuck Mangione, as well as collecting baseball cards, comic books and coins. While wearing his floppy hat, he always had a smile on his face and had a kind word for everyone, whether he knew you or not. He loved to spend time with his children, fishing, tinkering around the house, and lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it. The world was a better place because of Jim, and he will be missed. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
