James Joseph McGowan of Beverly passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 3, 2016.
Jim was 88. Jim worked for Public Service Electric & Gas retiring after 45years and 6 months of dedicated service.
He served as President of the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers Local 853 for 10 years at Kearny Generating Station. A devoted Catholic, Jim was a long-time altar server and faithful member of the Church of St. Joseph, Parish of Jesus the Good Shepherd, Beverly, NJ. Jim was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Resurrection Council 3831. Jim cherished his time with family and friends including annual vacations at Ocean Beach III Lavalette, N.J. A lifelong fan of the New York football Giants, Jim later became an enthusiastic Philadelphia Phillie fan. A true family man in every sense of the word, Jim was a leader, role model and friend. Jim will be remembered, loved and cherished by his adoring family, as his legacy continues in them.
He was predeceased by his son Kevin and his sister, Dorothy.
Jim was blessed with 65 years of marriage to his loving wife Eileen (Nee: Murphy); son James F. McGowan; daughters: Eileen (Tom) Haydon, Claire (Edward) Heron; sister Margaret Kinnear; grandchildren: Daniel, Kevin (Dana), Christopher, Brian, Grace, James, Eileen and several nieces, nephews and friends.
