James “J.C.” Cecil Davis passed away peacefully on January 29, 2022 with his family at his bedside. J.C. (known as Papa to his family) was born on April 17, 1943 to Pierce O. and Luta Abner Davis. J.C. was married for 57 years to Anne Hendrix Davis. J.C. and Anne were devoted members of Sargent Baptist Church. J.C. was a butcher and owned and operated Davis Grocery for 23 years. He was known for his homemade sausage and many company parties enjoyed his beautiful rib eyes. He was a family man and loved spending time with them especially watching the Atlanta Braves, Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Falcons. J.C. is survived, and will be missed by his wife, Anne and three daughters, Selena Birkbeck (Ben) of Newnan, Georgia, Donna Jones (Mark) of Newnan, Georgia, and Brenda van den Enden (Adrian) of Peachtree City, Georgia. His grandchildren, Heidi Knoblett (Michael), Caleb Labiche (Becky), Matthew Jones, Jessica Mateos (Matthew), Ryan Jones, Carly Jones, Anaka van den Enden, and Lydi van den Enden and his great grandchildren, Kaydian, Madalynn, Jayce and Fischer. His siblings Opal Bartlett, Curtis Davis (Peggy), Grace Ward (Bobby), Hazel Conley, Ennis Davis (Carol). In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings Bruce Davis, Sybil Titshaw, Oliver Davis and Margaret Sullivan.
