James Hershel Whittle, 88 of Caldwell, formerly of Manteca, California, passed away Friday, June 17, 2016.
James was born August 28, 1927 in Van Buren, Arkansas, to James and Jewel (Ferguson) Whittle. He was raised and educated in Arkansas with his three siblings, Dale, Paul and Carolyn. James joined the US Navy in 1945 and proudly served our country during WWII. After his honorable discharge in 1947, James met the love of his life, Barbara Mary Palmaymesa and they were married on September 4, 1948.
James and Barbara made their home and raised their two children, Karen and James “Jim” in Manteca, California. James worked at Fiberboard in Stockton, then Manteca Irrigation District from which he retired. After 58 years of marriage, Barbara passed away and James moved to Idaho to be closer to his daughter, Karen and her family.
