James Henry Whitaker, 64, of Anderson, passed away on June 24, 2018, at the Fort Meade VA Medical Hospital, Sturgis, SD. He was born on April 3, 1954, in Anderson, Indiana.
James graduated from Mountain Home High School in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He served his country in the Navy. He was a concrete pourer. He was a member of New Purpose Ministries and enjoyed watching Westerns and smoking cigars.
James is survived by his loving spouse, Brenda Whitaker; children, Christina (Nathan) Padgett, Jennifer (Doug) Bird, James Henry Whitaker, Jr., Amanda (David) Johnson; step-son, Roger (Shelley Conyers) Eubank; grandchildren, Alyssa, Kelley, and Jason Bird, Joshua Whitaker; step-grandchildren, Illiana (Tre Fileds) Eubank, Jourdan Eubank, Catlin, Lillian, Sarah, Ethan, Elizabeth, and Ben Thompson; siblings, Nora Crawford, Kathy Stone, Bettye Kayzer, Benny Whitaker, Marvin Whitaker; best friend, Rayzell Hummel.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cora Mae Whitaker; father, James Harvey Whitaker; siblings, Jack Ray Whitaker, Robert “Bob” Earl Whitaker, Silvia Whitaker, Nona Whitaker, Evan Whitaker, Wanita Whitaker, Bill Franklin Whitaker; sisters-in Judy Whitaker, Dawn Whitaker, and brother-in-law, William Crawford.
