James Henry Cherry, known as the “Coke Man,” was born in Butler, Alabama on November 17, 1937 to the late Nerias and Leona Cherry, and was the third of nine children.

Henry confessed Christ at an early age and joined Butler Chapel AME Zion Church, where he remained faithful until death.  Henry served as a Sunday School Superintendent for numerous years.  He was also a member of the Steward Board and a choir member.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nerias and Leona Cherry; two brothers, Arthur Mitchell and George Cherry; one sister-in-law, Althea Cherry.

Henry departed this earthly life on February 14, 2022.

He leaves to mourn his passing: one son, Beanie (Barbara) Moss of Augusta, Georgia; three grandchildren, Sharmeka (Calvin) Branch of Springfield, Georgia; Beanie Moss, Jr. and Solomon Moss, both of Augusta, Georgia; one great grandchild, Aszariah; one sister, Glenda Cherry Rainey of Clinton, MS; five brothers, John Cherry of Butler, AL; devoted brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert (Queenie) Cherry of Butler, AL; Willie Cherry of Seattle, WA; U.L. (Loretta) Cherry of Mobile, AL; Johnny Cherry of Seattle, WA; two sisters-in-law, Soncie Cherry and Bernice Cherry of Butler, AL; cousins/sisters, Hattie Taylor, Diane Hairston and Alice Crowell.  A host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, whom he loved and gave them all names; many other relatives and friends; a devoted cousin/friend, James Ruffin.
