James Harold Finch, a lifelong resident of Union Point, GA passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.  He was 98.  Born in Union Point, Georgia on March 9, 1921, he was one of eight children born to the late Marshal Alexander Finch and Anna Moore Finch six of whom predeceased him.  Harold graduated from Union Point High School in 1938.  He married the former Mary Elizabeth Griffeth on November 5, 1944.  Mr. Finch was a World War II veteran who served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Union Point to resume his employment with Chipman Union Manufacturing.  He retired in 1993 as Superintendent of the Finishing Department following a 53 year career.

Mr. Finch is survived by his wife of seventy-five years, Mary E. (Griffeth) Finch of Union Point, GA, formerly of Colbert, Georgia. Also surviving are children, James Darrell Finch (M.G.) of Dawsonville, GA and June Elaine (Finch) Windate (George) of Athens, GA; and a brother, Aubrey Finch of Lexington, GA. Surviving grandchildren are Tara DeLaigle (Steve), James Mitchell Finch and John Marshall (Jack) Finch; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Marshal Finch, Gordon Finch, Imogene Winn, Earl Finch, Roy Finch, and Virginia Pruitt.
