James H. Meredith, age 75, of Jonesboro, IN, died on Friday, December 13, 2013 at St. Vincents Heart Center of Indiana.

He was born to the late Berthel Meredith and late Addie Minton Meredith on April 14, 1938 in Leitchfield, Kentucky, and was raised in Kentucky and Ohio. He served in US Navy in from October 1955 to January 1958, he received an honorable discharge.

Jim married Jane Polling on August 25, 1967 and lived in Jonesboro, Indiana since 1971. Always an avid pet lover, he leaves behind the following pets; Honey, Sassy, Jake, Socks and Sissy, as well as several outside strays he fed and cared for daily.

He owned and operated his own construction company in the Grant County area for over 45 years (which will still continue to operate by his wife and sons). He had a passion for race car driving where he won many races and trophies.

Jims other hobbies included: fishing, hunting, flea marketing, casinos and patronizing area restaurants for socializing and job networking. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Jane A. Meredith. He also is survived by: Sons: James H. Meredith, Jr., of Indianapolis, Indiana Wayne E. Bodkins, of Marion, Indiana Robert E. (Leslie) Bodkins Jr., of Landess, Indiana Michael E. (Ronnette) Bodkins, of Gas City, Indiana Daughter: Sheila Jane (Jim) Cofield, of Elkhart, Indiana Brother: Terry Meredith Sister: Yvonne (DJ) Rish Fourteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
