James was a United States Marine Corps Veteran and served in the Korean War. He was Christian, attending Good News Church in Houck Arizona, where he taught Navajo Sunday school. He retired from Gallup Indian Medical Center after 21 years. He was a business owner of a Gulf Station and a Rancher who loved riding his horse. James enjoyed sporting events, especially rodeos and car racing.
James was survived by his wife; Winnie Augustine. Sons; James Augustine, Jr. of Houck, Arizona and Michael Augustine from Chandler, Arizona. Daughter; Diane Augustine of Phoenix, Arizona. Brother; Phillip Augustine of Kirtland, New Mexico. Sisters; Julia Chavez, Lorraine Jose, June Benally, and Alice Augustine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Tom and Jennie Augustine of Nageezie, New Mexico and sister Etta Harrison.
