James Gordon “Jim” Calhoun
The son of the late Francis Ward Calhoun and Lillian (Vallee) Calhoun, Jim was born on January 30, 1929 in Zimmerman, LA and passed away August 4, 2022 at the Ardmore Veterans Center at the age of 93 years, 6 months and 4 days.
Jim grew up in Glenmora, LA where he graduated high school. He and the former Ada Minerva Harris were married November 27, 1953 in Pasadena, Texas. She preceded him in death on November 17, 2012. His work career began in the finance business while living in Houston, Texas. After retirement, he moved to Marietta, OK. Six months later he became the Vice-President of the bank in Marietta. He and his wife later purchased Lake Village Grocery and built a home in Lake Murray Village. Jim ran the Lake Village Grocery for 40 years. In his leisure time Jim loved to fishing, boating, and swimming at the lake, most of all Jim really enjoyed his Elk hunting in Idaho. He was a true Outdoorsman. Jim was a loving father, grandfather and loved life.
Jim was of the Baptist faith and a believer in Jesus Christ.
He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Mary Calhoun and husband Mikel; grandchildren, Rebecca Michele Vaughn and husband Josh, James Cody Wallis and wife Heather; great-grandchildren; Adellyn Grace Wallis, Jaxon Todd Wallis and Lily Jaymes Vaughn; numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
