James Gary Goodman, 89, passed away on October 30, 2022, at his home in Roy, Utah. He was born February 12, 1933 to James Russel Goodman and June Rohanna Carter. He was born in Magna and raised in Orem.
He joined the US Air Force in December 10, 1951 and was honorably discharged November 26, 1955.
James married RaVae Anderson on April 12,1958. They moved to Kaysville, and were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on March 18, 1960. They then moved to Roy to raise their children.
He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many church callings. His favorite one was Scoutmaster. He held every position on the wood badge staff and earned his Silver Beaver.
For many years he loved playing Santa Claus at Christmas time at the Layton Hills Mall. He visited many homes as Santa, making Christmas a memorable one for many families.
James and his spouse were foster parents for many years and earned the foster parent of the year award.
James was a skilled wood worker and an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing and camping, especially with his family enjoying yearly family reunions.
He was preceded in death by his wife, RaVae, his parents and his brothers.
James is survived by his children: James (Joan) Goodman, Russel (Joni) Goodman, Cheryl (Aaron) Atwood, Tracy (Kirk) Farmer, Connie (Douglas) Williamson, and Mary Ann (Zack) Nichols, 27 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
