James G. Fry, 93, of Freeport died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. Born May 2, 1920 in Cedar Rapids, IA he was the son of John and Katherine (Duncan) Fry.

He was a graduate of Marion High School in Marion, IA, Cedar Rapids Business College and University of Iowa Department of Agriculture and Engineering. On February 2, 1980 he and Vera Knodle were united in marriage, she preceded him in death.

Jim managed the Prince Ice Cream Castle in Dixon for 15 years and Lang Ice Cream Company in Tampa, FL for 18 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1942-1946. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and the Golden Agers group at church and enjoyed playing on different bowling leagues in Freeport.

Surviving are a daughter-in-law Linda Fry and grandson Alan R. Fry both of Elgin. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, a son Robert, two brothers and two sisters.
