Mr. Frank Owens, 88, of Newnan passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 at Doctor’s Hospice in Fayetteville. He was born May 28, 1926 in Haralson County, GA to the late J.J. Owens & Lydia Velma Eady Owens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 65 years, Betty Ruth Williamson Owens, his daughter, Allison Bridgett McClendon, and son, Jerry Frank Owens.
Mr. Owens served in the Navy during WWII where he was in the first invasion of Guam and three other front line invasions. After combat in WWII, he was honorably discharge before his 20th birthday. He began a long career with R.D. Cole Company as a boiler maker building elevated water tanks. His work took him to many states where he erected hundreds of water towers that still stand today.
Survivors include sons, Tony Owens & wife Donna, David Owens; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
