James Fleming Peet, II, 62, of Fayetteville, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, December 7, 2014, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 9, 1952, the son of the late James Fleming Sr. and Mary Louise Prunty Peet. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Peet, his step-mother, Alta Peet, and his nephews, William Green and James Patrick Peet.
Jim touched many throughout his life, remaining in contact with school friends, as well as friends made everywhere he lived. He was a certified registered nurse anesthetist for over thirty years, providing care and comfort to patients throughout West Virginia. A member of Gassaway Baptist Church for many years, Jim enjoyed sharing his love of music through singing in the choir. In his last years, he attended Grace Baptist Church in Fayetteville. His faith, especially throughout his fight with cancer, was an inspiration to fellow members of the congregation and to his family and friends. Jim’s sense of humor, skills as a chef and “grill master”, and his love of camping and golf were only a few ways lasting memories were made. He loved with a full heart and was loved by everyone he came in contact with. His smile was contagious and he will be missed greatly by his family and friends, until they are joyously reunited in Heaven.
Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Golda Kiger of Shepherdstown, Kari Alford and fiancé, Michael Jarrell, of Hurricane, and Cassie Peet, of Huntington; and grandchildren, Gabriel Kiger, Abigail, Shane II and Alyson Alford, and Amelia Peet. “Brother Jim” is also survived by his sisters and brother, Diana Hickman and husband, Dean, of Columbus, Ohio, Sherry Wimer, of Belpre, Ohio, Timothy Peet and wife, Mary, of Clarksburg, sister-in-law Pamela Perri Peet of Clarksburg, and step-sister, Ella Green and husband, Phillip, of Clarksburg. Left with loving memories are his nieces and nephews, Dean Hickman, II, and wife Pam, Tabetha Calkins and husband, Brian, Tiffany Blatnik, Brandee Fay and husband, Tim, Perri Peet, Patrick Peet, John Peet, Ashley Jenkins and husband, Justin, and Philip Green, II, and wife, Shayla; and great-nieces and nephews, Dean III, Andrew and Natalie Hickman, Lacey Sexton, Gianna and Clarissa Blatnik, Josalyn Fay, and Averie and Lily Jenkins. Special memories will also be treasured by best friend, Ronna Dittman, and “nieces and nephew”, Elizabeth, Hannah and Brent Dittman, of Gassaway.
