On Sunday October 30, 2022 James M. Fotiou was called home at the age of 88 surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband, father & grandfather.
James was born on December 28, 1933 to the late Michael and Giassimo “Jessie” (Hatjigeorgiou) Fotiou of Samos Greece, in South Bend, IN
As a lifelong area resident, Jim attended Madison Elementary before graduating in 1953 from Central High School. He then went on to receive both his Bachelor and Masters degrees from Indiana University Bloomington.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving his country from 1954-1956. Jim retired in 1993 from the South Bend Community School Corporation where he taught for 25 years.
On August 31, 1968, he married Evangeline A. (Marosz) Coney in South Bend, IN. Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Evangeline A. Fotiou of South Bend, IN; three daughters, Kimberly (John) Krzyzewski of Vandalia, MI; Lisa (Chris) Avrett of Littleton, CO; Stacy Fotiou Forster of Los Angeles, CA; one son, Timothy Coney of Indianapolis, IN; six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Allison, and Rachel Coney; Timothy (Karlyn) Krzyzewski; Michael (Rachel) Krzyzewski; and Jamie Forster; five great grandchildren, Natalee, Carson, Cutler, Maverick, and Stella; and his sister-in-law, Christine Pettit.
James was a member of St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church in South Bend, he was a talented artist and loved to live life to the fullest. James was most proud of being a father and grandfather. His children and grandchildren have a deep bond with him that will never be broken.
