James Eugene “Jim” Buxton, 64 of Columbia, formerly of the Warrenton and Centralia areas, passed away Monday, December 16, 2019 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born January 3, 1955, in Troy, MO to Walter Eugene and Mary Ann (Lix) Buxton.
Jim was a Cattle farmer and he greatly enjoyed it.
Survivors include his children; Nikole Baker and husband Doug of Mackinaw, IL, Jesse Buxton and wife Taylor of Marshfield, MO, Cody Buxton and wife Heather of Ashland, Denise Bearden and husband Brett of Marshfield, Shane Buxton and wife Melissa of Columbia and Travis Buxton and wife Jocelyn of Kansas City, MO, his parents, Eugene and Mickey Buxton of Warrenton, 15 grandchildren, four sisters; Christine Melkowski, Karen Schnarre, Jennifer Denton and husband John, Penny Waller and her husband Darrell all of Warrenton, MO, nieces, nephews, cousins, including Kathy Buxton of Moberly, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his cousin Rick Buxton on November 23, 2019.
Jim was a true cowboy who loved spending time outdoors on the farm working cattle. Some of his happiest times were spent riding horses and camping with his cousins Rick and Kathy. Jim loved making people smile with his baking, especially his famous monster cookies and cheese pie which were enjoyed and fought over by many.
His most cherished times were spent with his children and grandchildren teaching him all that unconditional love feels like.
