James Edward “Rocky” Rockhill, 83, of Anderson, passed away on March 3, 2016 at Community Hospital, Anderson. He was born on May 23, 1932 in Flora, Indiana and resided most of his life in Elwood and Anderson. Jim graduated from Wendell L. Wilkie High School, and served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from The United States Postal Service after 29 years, Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 12 years, and Chesterfield Union Township Volunteer Fire Department after 17 years of service.
He also worked at Meijer and South Bend Medical for several years after he retired. He was a member of Southdale Church of the Nazarene, National Association of Letter Carriers Branch #489, 50 year member of the Chesterfield American Legion Post 408, N.A.R.F., and a 50 year member of United Commercial Travelers. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, watching western movies and spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years whom he married March 29, 1974, Brenda (Branham) Rockhill, sons, David (Deb) Rockhill, Danny (Susan) Rockhill, Jason (Angie) Mier, siblings, Terry (Barb) Rockhill, Peggy (Robert) Smith, Joanne (Vern) Brummet, grandchildren, Holli, Bryan, Jessica, John, Tristen, Bentley, great-grandchildren, Paige, Koleen, Kolin, Tony, Aubrey, Ayden, the two remaining amigos, John and Wiggy. Last but not least, his four legged buddy Mr. Toby.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lottie Rockhill, father, Clarence Rockhill, siblings, Bobby, Betty and Carolyn “Sue”, and his grandson, Tony Rockhill.
