James Edward Jones, was born March 15, 1942 to the late Horace T. Jones and Mary Lee Siler-Young in Lonoke County. James graduated from George Washington Carver High School, Lonoke, Arkansas, May 1962. Shortly after graduation he enrolled in Shorter College, North Little Rock, Arkansas.

James worked for Arkansas Workers Compensation Commission as a Legal Administrative Assistant for thirty years. Work did not contain James, he spent years playing softball with the Kerr All Stars and as a basketball referee around the state of Arkansas.

James protected his heart by putting up a wall of defense. Everyone who genuinely knew James acknowledged him as being gentle, kind and compassionate.

James transitioned from this life Monday, June 14, 2021 at his home. He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Lee Siler-Young, father Horace T. Jones and step-father David Young Sr., five brothers, David Young Jr., Adolph “Sonny” Young, Jessie Jones, Theodis Holmes and Jackie McPeace, two sisters, Lucille Jones and Joyce Morgan.

James leaves to cherish his memories three brothers, Larry (Clara) Young, North Little Rock, Arkansas; Mike (Mildred) Jones, Lonoke, Arkansas and Derrick (Bobbie) Harvey, Blackjack, Missouri; eight sisters, Evelyn (Charles) Armstrong, Betty (Alvin) Williams both of Little Rock, Arkansas; Wilma Young, Sherwood, Arkansas; Carol (Dewayne) Morgan, North Little Rock, Arkansas; Loretta (Spencer) Pennick, Stanford, Virginia; Barbara Kelleybrew, Scott, Arkansas; Olibra (Mike) Bailey, Los Angeles, California and LaVonne Holmes, Jacksonville, Arkansas, a host of other relatives and friends.
