Staff Sergeant James Edward Johnson was born October 8, 1947 in Courtland, AL to the late Mae Fannie Shaw Jones and Elmus Johnson. He received Christ at an early age and, later in life, answered his call into ministry. He was a member of Victory Christian Center under Apostle Carter Videau, and is proceeded in death by his brothers and sisters: Leo, John, Joseph, Annie, Trig, Ruth and Ruby Jones. On Monday, December 21st, while at home with his loving wife, Amanda Johnson, James transitioned from this life.
James was ambitious and a fast learner. He was educated in the Lawrence County School system, where he was a star athlete in football and basketball. After high school, he attended Alabama A&M University, University of Hawaii-Manoa, Leward Community College, Mount Olive College, Saint Leo College, Huntsville Bible College and the Community College of the Air Force. James spent four years in the Marine Corp and six years in the Air Force as Staff Sergeant. After leaving the military, he attended North West Shoals Community College and received an associate’s degree in business management and attended the Universities of Alabama in Birmingham and in Huntsville, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business management. In the late 70’s, James began working for the USPS where he eventually retired in 2003 as a mail handler and became self employed as a government contractor.
