James Edward Baker Sr., 83, of O’Fallon, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh, IL. He was born April 13, 1938, in Hickman County, TN. After high school, James joined the U.S. Air Force and served until retiring as Chief MSgt.
James was a member of the Fairview Heights Church of Christ on Bunkum Rd. and enjoyed gardening.James was preceded in death by his parents John Edward and Annie Lee Baker (nee Davis); one sister, Joyce Ann Barnes, and one brother in infancy. James is survived by his beloved wife, Calvin Sue Baker (nee Mitchell); three children, James E. (Kimberly) Baker II of O’Fallon, IL, John C. (Darlene) Baker of Loganville, GA, and Kenneth R. (Jo) Baker of Collinsville, IL; four brothers, Ewell (Stella) Baker of Troy, TN, Larry D. (Barbara) Baker of Bartlett, TN, Jerry Baker of Newbern, TN, and Ronald D. (Pam) Baker of Union City, TN; one grandchild, Rachel (Jason) Fix; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Fix and Reed Fix, also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
