James Earl Ruffin was born December 08,1950 in Choctaw County to the late Ulysses Ruffin and Maggie Lee Etheridge Ruffin. He received his formal education from Choctaw County Training School in Lisman, Alabama.
James confessed his life to Christ at an early age and joined Mount Mariah Baptist Church. There he was a faithful and dedicated member.
James began working at an early age to help with his family. He was employed by Cresote Manufacturers where he performed as a cross tire and post production worker. In 1972 he became employed by Atlas Roofing as a coder. There he worked vigorously and was liked by many fellow co-workers. After working 26yrs, in 1998, he retired due to a decline in health.
In Holy Matrimony, he united with the late Alice Faye Ruffin. They were married 41yrs. To this union, they were blessed with six daughters : two preceded him in death.
On June 2nd 2015, at Baylor &Scott White Hospital in Waco Texas, he departed his earthly body and joined hands with his eternal father. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Faye Ruffin; two daughters, Evoynne and Tamika Ruffin; parents Ulysses Ruffin and Maggie Ruffin; two brothers; Willie and Wafer Ruffin; two sisters; Thelma Etheridge and Mary Ruffin.
He leaves to cherish his memories five living children : Kimberly (Richard) Thomas of Meridian, MS, Sharon (Johnny) Rudolph of Bradenton, FL, Lisa Stevenson of Cromwell, AL; Sheila Ruffin of Robinson, TX, Kim Tasha (Jimmy) Rainer of Lisman, AL: nine grandchildren, Jarkeith, Richard, Daniel, Kyra, Kimbreshia, Jaliyah, Samantha, John, and Makynli; one great-grandson, Greyson; three brothers; Ulysses (Ethel) Ruffin Jr., Meridian, MS; Wallace Ruffin, Russell, MS; Charlie (Emma) Ruffin, Decatur, MS; six sisters; Martha (Tommy) Tanks, Miami, FL; Susie (Hollie) Hampton, Cromwell, AL; Annie (Bobby) Halsell, Halsell, AL; Betty (Graylin) Eason, Cromwell, AL; Melinda (Ommie) Crockett, Hoover AL, and Brenda Roberts of Yantley, AL. and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relative and friends.
