James “Jimmy” Edwin Smith, Jr., age 41, of Carroll Valley, Pennsylvania, died suddenly on Thursday morning, August 13, 2009 at his home.
Born January 21, 1968 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of James E. and Victoria (Sciukas) Smith, Sr., of Baltimore. He was the loving husband of Karen Lynn (Stockman) Smith.
Jimmy was a firefighter with the City of Baltimore for the past 19 ½ years, assigned to Engine 13. He worked for the past 7 years in the I.T. Department at the Oldtown Fire Station in Baltimore. He was an active member of the Sons of the American Legion Francis X. Elder, Post 121 in Emmitsburg, MD, where he helped serve on the honor guard. He was also a member of the Auxiliary Sons of Emmitsburg Memorial V.F.W., Post 6658 in Emmitsburg, MD. He enjoyed being a tour guide with Ghosts of Gettysburg Tours in Gettysburg, PA.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents, are children, Abigail “Abbie” Smith, Amanda Smith, and Heather Gray all of Carroll Valley; a brother, Scott A. Smith of Baltimore, and a niece, Sidney Smith of Baltimore.
