James E. ”Jim” Owens, 83, Markleville, died October 12, 2006, at St. Johns Health System, Anderson Indiana after an extended illness. He was born November 14, 1922, in Burkesville, Kentucky, and was a Markleville resident for over 53 years.
Jim was a self-employed carpenter. He served his country in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of Columbus Avenue Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Muncie and the D.A.V. He loved gardening and loved to cook.
He is survived by his four children, Terry E. & wife Margie Owens of New York, Beverly Boles of Yorktown, John & wife Cristy Owens of Martinsville, and Karl & wife Vickie Owens of Marion; a sister, Anna Norris; sixteen grandchildren, Desiree Owens, Doug Owens, Tiffany Owens, Tarina Owens, Joshua Owens, Jonathon Owens, Benjamin Owens, Rachel Owens, Andrea Boles, Brandon Boles, Kaitlyn Owens, Bethany Owens, Matthew Owens, Karla Owens, Krystal Owens, and Karman Owens; one great-grandchild, Abigail Mottsinger; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 46 years, Mae F. Spears Owens whom he married on June 28, 1947; and his oldest son, Doug Owens.
