James E. McMeans Sr., 79, of Naples, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at Auburn Rehab & Health Care Center.
He was born Jan. 30, 1938, in Jacksonville, the son of Leo Francis and Lela Mae Hegener McMeans.
He is survived by one son and two daughters, James McMeans Jr. of Vermont, Linda Miley of Jacksonville, and Patty Goodin of Springfield; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Glen Eugene “Gene” McMeans; one grandson, Gary Miley Jr.; three brothers, Clarence, Donald and Earl (surviving wife Barb of Jacksonville); and one sister, Mary Allan.
Mr. McMeans worked at J. Capps & Sons and then retired from Mobil Chemical, both in Jacksonville. He loved spending time on the river, playing shuffleboard, and hunting for antiques. Jim was an avid Cardinals fan.
