James E. Lee, 86, died March 1, 2012 at his home with his family and Hospice by his side.
James lived an exciting Iife. He grew up in Atlanta Georgia. He graduated from Boys Tech High School, while in high school he earned his Ham Radio operating License. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy as a Submariner and served on the SS Catfish ,the same time his older Brother Vic served on the 55 Croaker.
After the war he went to Georgia Tech and earned a degree in electrical egineering. He worked for the Philco Corp. for three years in Japan and Okinawa and 6 years in Germany. He played golf and joined the International Sportscar Club. He drove his Gold Wing Mercedes 300 SI in many races, he also drove in 24 hour and 12 hour rallies, where his future wife’ was his copilot. He also continued his studies at the University of Maryland with honors. He returned to New Jersey and worked for Bell Laboratory, while there he earned his Private Pilots and his Instructors Iicense. He transferred to Kennedy Space Center in Florida .He joined the IBM Corp and worked in Houston Texas at the Johnson Space Center. While in Houston he joined the Civil Air Patrol and did a lot of flying. He retired to Florida from IBM and worked five more Years for McDonnell Douglas Design in Fiber Optics. After retirement he played golf almost daily.
My family and I give our love and special thanks to Vitas Hospice, Kirsten and her team 186.These ladies are Angels on Earth. The Love and tender care they gave to James made for a peaceful transition from Earth. Minutes before James death,his two brothers, my family and the Hospice ladies all held hands said a prayer and Nancy with her beautiful voice sang a song.
Almost 59 years we shared our life together, I love you until my journey on this earth ends.
