James E. “Jim” Herron, age 78, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at his residence in Kalispell after a 14 year battle with cancer. He was born on July 2, 1930 in Redfield, South Dakota to John L. and Stella Mae (Walter) Herron.

Jim joined the Army in 1947 and was honorably discharged in 1951. In 1959 he graduated from Barber School and eventually had his own shop. In 1969 he went to work for Ford Motor Company until moving to Montana to raise his family and has lived here ever since.

He was a thoughtful and kind man and would never say no to anyone needing help. He was an avid outdoorsman.

Dancing was another of his loves. He and his wife Theresa loved dancing. He was a member of the square dancing association and Arie Eagles. In recent years, he took up carving, which he shared with his family and friends. They will be treasured by all.

Jim never knew a stranger. It was a toss up who played harder Jim or the grandkids!

In 1963, Jim married Margaret Neary. In that union they had three children that were the loves of his life. They later divorced. In 2000 he married his soulmate, Theresa Mann.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Raymond, granddaughter and numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by his loving wife Theresa Ann of Kalispell, MT; daughters, Theresa Brim and husband Dave of Kalispell, MT; Cathy Lammert and husband Bill of Kalispell, MT, and Peggy Johnson and husband Denis of Kalispell, MT; Anita Smith and husband Trey of Scarborough, ME; and Lisa Katchur and husband Mike of Lakeside, MT; his grandchildren, Christopher and Thomas Brim, Shayla and Zachary Lammert, Wesley, Katelyn, Daniel, Megan and Sarah Johnson, Jonathan Marcus and Eryn Edelen, Tarah and Elijah Katchur and great- grandchildren, Daniel, Kieren, Joshua and Levi Edelen, sister; Juanita Rahn and her husband Harry of Lincoln, MI.,and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and adopted family.
