Passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the age of 86. He was born December 19, 1929 in Fremont, MI to the late Russell and Evelyn (Debois) Gates. James was united in marriage to Rena Mead on December 19, 1965. He served in the U.S. Air Force until honorably discharged in February of 1950. James is survived by his wife, Rena Gates; grandson, Shane Moore; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Ford (Doris) Gates, Lee Gates and Russell Gates, Jr.
