James Douglass Shaw, 81 passed away peacefully at Providence Hospital on May 12, 2019. He was born February 10, 1938 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jolly and Pearl Shaw in Memphis, TN. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter: Debra A. Phillips Campbell and one son: William D. Shaw.

He accepted Christ at an early age and later united with Greater St. Mark M.B. Church where he remained a faithful member. In addition to enjoying hs church services, he also served as a Deacon, while in California, he ranged for Sacred Bells and Spiritual Corinthian and controlled the sound system for Pastor Hanson Rodgers.

James was a sanitation worker for Martinez, CA until his retirement in 1999 and  also owned his own landscaping business in Vallejo, CA.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife of 33 years, Mrs. Maureen Shaw of Mobile, AL; two daughters, Verna (Percy) McCelland and Diane (Fenard) Wilburn, both of Memphis, TN and two sons, Schatzie (Kevin) Shaw of Oakland, CA and James Darrell (Jamila) Shaw of Sacramento, CA; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memory, Randy and Crystal Thomas, Henry and Earline Anderson, Reuben and Shirley White, John and Glory Dixon, Jerry and Polly Dixon, and Error Flynn Dixon. One special niece, Dolfinette (Ray) Hurd.
