James (Jim) Dewitt Sr., age 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 6th, 2021, at Bruce McCandless Veterans Community Living Center in Florence, CO.

Jim was born on November 1st, 1933, in Battlecreek (Springfield Township), Michigan. He is preceded in death by his parents; George and Opal Dewitt (Smith), brother; Marvin Dewitt, sister; Maxine Pomisel (Dewitt), and grandson; Nate Smallwood. Jim is lovingly remembered by his wife, Michele, and their five children; Sherry Dewitt (Mark), James Jr. Dewitt (DeAnn), Steve Dewitt, Darla Smallwood, and Brian Dewitt, grandchildren; Casey, Candice, Craig, Chantal, Kaedyn, Chad, Stephanie, Lucas, and Cory, great-grandchildren; Alivia, Marcus, Heaven, Cole, Thesis, Mordacai, Draven, Phoenix, Dayne, Carah, Lilah, Lexi, Sammi, Gabe, Lizzy, and Shadalynn, great-great-grandchildren; Ryder and Taysom, and several other friends and family members.

Jim served his country in the Army from 1953 to 1955.

Jim enjoyed being self-employed as an antique dealer. He was also an auction ring man for Storm Auction Company. Not only was this his career path, but it was also his favorite pastime, as he loved going to yard sales, flea markets, and auctions. Jim enjoyed selling his treasures in Santa Fe and Quartzsite. He spent most summers looking high and low for valuable antiques. In addition to this, he cherished going hunting and fishing with his family and taking family trips to Minnesota.

Jim was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He is loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
