     Mr. James David “J.D.” Stodghill, age 79, of Valley, Al., left for Heaven on July 1, 2014, after an extended illness.

     J.D. was born on January 2, 1935, in Camp Hill, Al., to Marvin and Naomi Bell Stodghill.

     He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janelle Yarbrough Stodghill; three sons, David (Kay) Stodghill, Paul (Julie) Stodghill, Chris (Bernette) Stodghill; daughter, Jan (Roy) Miller.  He was blessed with grandchildren Forrest (Jessica), Josh (Megan), April, Sarah, Abby Stodghill, Wes (Shannon) and Adam Miller, Linda (Steve) Ramage, Cindy (Donnie) Givorns, Sandra McVicker, and Robert Frazier; great grandchildren, Gabby, Gavin, Avery, Annistyn, Asher, Jonah Stodghill and Abel Miller; sisters, Margaret (Thomas) Henderson, Marie Hunt, Linda (John) Lohymeyer, and Betty (Roger) Walker; brothers, William (Pat) Stodghill, Vernon (Glenda) Stodghill, Roy (Brenda) Stodghill, and Virgil Stodghill; a host of other relatives.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Naomi Bell Stodghill, brothers, Ray Stodghill, Harold Stodghill, Floyd Stodghill; sister, Sylvia Earles; granddaughter, Deborah Phelps.

     J.D. was the owner of Stodghill TV Service for 34 years.  He was a faithful member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Valley.  He served in any way he could until his last days.  He could fix anything and used that gift to help others.  He enjoyed spending time on Lake Martin, playing the guitar, singing, spending time with family and building things.  He will be remembered with love and fondness by all family members and friends and will be greatly missed.
