James Dale Harris, 72, of Galesburg, died at 10:47 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2017, at home. Jim was born June 7, 1944, in Galesburg, the son of David E. and Alice Rice Harris. He married Bonnie Lee Ball on January 25, 1970, in Davenport, IA.

She survives of Galesburg. He is also survived by one son, James B. Harris of Galesburg; one daughter, Tina L. Harris of Kansas City, MO; stepchildren, Dr. Linnea (Joe) Williams of Kansas City, MO, and Tracy ( Tony) Thierry of Galesburg. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Erin (Lorenzo) Pugh, Christopher (Stephanie) Thierry, Andrew (Kira) Thierry, Nathan Thierry, LaKesha Harris, Aileen Harris, Elias Williams, and Aiden Williams; three great-grandchildren, Amelia Harris, Anton Harris, and Jaxson Pugh; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jim owned and operated Harris Hauling for many years in Galesburg. He has spent the past several years as a metal recycler. He was a longtime active member of the Democratic Party. He was a Jeopardy fanatic and enjoyed traveling. Jim had a great sense of humor and loved talking with people. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
