James “Jim” Stringer, 73, of Grantville, formerly of Gay passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at their home. He was born March 23, 1941 in Rockmart, GA to the late James Curtis Stringer & Margie Fuller Stringer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Winston Stringer & Tony Stringer. Jim grew up in Rockmart, GA and after graduating high school he attended the University of Georgia where he won many awards on the wrestling team. After graduating from UGA, he went to work with Ford Motor Company where he managed assembly lines and later worked closing assembly plants. He lived in Gay, GA on the Flint River for over 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, and serve as a fishing guide on the Flint River. He was a member of Oak Lawn Baptist Church in Newnan. Survivors include wife, Judy Pitts Stringer; son, Jimmy (Kellie) Stringer of Cumming; daughter, Starla Stringer of Buchanan; step-sons, Kelly (Jennifer) Pitts of Grantville, Todd (Danielle) Pitts of McDonough; grandchildren, Ryan Stringer, Jonathon Malone Pitts, Brody Pitts; brother, Eric (Joyce) Stringer of Powder Springs; sisters, Cheryl (Wayne) Stone of Yorkville, GA, Linda (Cliff) Matson of Alabama.
