James Clay Hopkins, of Clovis NM, went to be with Jesus on May 29, 2023 in Clovis,NM.  

James Clay was born in Clovis, NM to James and Marybeth Hopkins on December 1, 1960. James grew up in Clovis and graduated from Clovis High School in 1978. While attending Clovis High School, James was a member of the concert choir.  James worked as a pasteurizer, and then as a manager for Dean Foods. He also worked in car sales, but the job he enjoyed most was raising Black Angus cattle on a small farm north of Clovis. James volunteered as a youth sponsor in the MYF program at Kingswood Methodist Church for many years. James enjoyed playing the piano and writing music.  He enjoyed getting together with his friends and the families that lived in his neighborhood. 

James Clay is preceded in death by his parents: Mary Elizabeth Hopkins and James Carrol Hopkins.  

James Clay is survived by his brothers and sister:  Bob (Nicole) Hopkins of Bettendorf, Iowa, Randy Hopkins of Clovis, NM, Beth (Barry) Holley of Flower Mound, Texas, nieces and nephews Justin (Kelsey) Hopkins, and Brittney Hopkins, grand nieces and nephews Jayden Hopkins, Avery Hopkins and Oliver Hopkins.  

James was a loving, caring son and brother. He was also a kind and generous uncle that always made a special effort to celebrate birthdays and holidays with his nieces and nephews that lived in another state. He was loved by many and will be missed.   

The family of James Clay Hopkins wishes to extend our sincere thanks to our friends and relatives that have been here to support us during this time. Whether it was with prayers, meals or just being there, we greatly appreciate all of you.
