James “Jay” Clark

Cocoa, Florida

James (Jay) Clark of Cocoa, Florida entered into heaven on February 14, 2016. He was 88 years old. Jay was born July 18, 1927 in Wilson, North Carolina. He was an All-Star athlete in high school and college and was a World War II veteran serving in the 8th Army. After working for 6 years in North Carolina as a teacher and principal, he moved to Brevard County in 1958. He retired from the Brevard County School System in 1989 after 32 years, the last 23 years as Principal of Fairglen Elementary School in Cocoa.   After retirement, he worked at the University of Central Florida as a teacher evaluator for 12 years and then served 2 years as Principal of Merritt Island Christian School.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; two sons, Jim Clark (Lisa) of Woodbridge, VA and John Clark of Cocoa, FL; two stepchildren, Craig Gangloff (Sandy) and Margo Lynn Miles (Frederick) both of Charleston, SC; an aunt, Mari Lee Owens of Mechanicsburg, PA; five grandchildren, Austin Simpson of Maitland, FL, Audrey Gangloff and Johnny Gangloff of Palm Harbor, FL; Jayne Clark of Woodbridge, VA and Sarah Miles of Charleston, SC; and two great-grandchildren, Maddie and Luke Simpson of Maitland, FL. He is preceded in death by his stepson Brant Gangloff.

He leaves this legacy to us as we remember him striving to reach the level of God’s Grace that was shown through him. He will be missed by those whose lives he touched.
