Born on December 15, 1928 to the late William and Stella Proctor Goodwin, JC graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1947 and was a member of IBEW 558 and the Hatton Masonic Lodge #879. A member of Okolona Baptist Church, he was saved and baptized on August 30, 1953 and was serving as Deacon since 1969.
Survivors include his children, Cathy (Scott) Sanderson, David (Cheryl) Goodwin, Medina (Rodger) Peebles; grandchildren, Laura Lee Wood, Morgan (Justin) Henley, Carey Grace Peebles, Shawn Moore; great-grandchildren, Oliver Wood, Brooks Henley, Ivy Baker Henley, Catherine Moore, and Stephen Moore; sisters, Christine Pitts, Kathleen (G.T.) Hamilton, and Bettye Kelley; brother, Charles W. Goodwin; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
James is preceded in death by his spouse of 68 years, Dorothy Goodwin; his parents; and sister, Faye Goodwin.
