James Christopher “Pooh Bear” Shay, age 54 of Fairfield, died Saturday, April 5, 2014. Born in Bridgeport in 1960, James was a lifelong Fairfield resident. He was a graduate of Andrew Warde High School, Class of 1979. Jim worked in his family business H. K. Shay Construction for many years. He loved fishing, his dump truck and most especially his beloved dog Ginger.
Jim had a great sense of humor and was loved and will be missed by all his friends. Survivors include his mother, Barbara McQuillan Shay of Fairfield., brothers Kevin Shay and his wife Leslie and Herbert “Chip” Shay., sisters Deborah and her husband Robert “Duke” Sherwood of Fairfield and Cindy Kozlowski and her companion Thomas Stockell of Stratford. Neices and nephews Tayra Shay, Jason and Tara Shay, Christopher and Julie Sherwood, Megan Kozlowski, Emily Shay and great niece and nephew Brandon and Kayla Shay. He was pre-deceased by his father Herbert “Skip” Shay and sister Kimberly Shay.
