James Callan Chittim passed away on August 3, 2019.

James Callan Chittim was born on November 29, 1941 in San Antonio to Atlee and Barbara Callan Chittim. After graduating from Culver Military Academy and then Texas Tech, Jim went to Dallas to work for Collins Radio as a project manager. It was there that he met Joy Hamilton. They were married October 18, 1969. Jim and Joy started a travelling dress bus business in Dallas, and they moved to Boerne in 1973. They had two children, James and Claudia.

Jim had a passion for learning and inventing. Among his inventions were trailer hitch supporters, cattle halters, goat halters, cattle lead ropes, and multiple things that made one’s life easier. When Jim and Joy decided to manufacture travel products, he designed the majority of the equipment needed for the factory. He had a BS from Texas Tech and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He went on to own several businesses, the last of which was Flying Circle Bag Company.

Jim’s hobbies were old cars and collecting Stirling engines. He and his grandfather built a car together when he was 19 years old. He loved telling big yarns and jokes. Jim was always someone that would make a conversation interesting and funny.

Jim is survived by his wife, Joy Hamilton Chittim; his children, James H. Chittim (Christi) and Claudia Chittim; his grandson, Jack Chittim; his mother, Barbara Callan Chittim; his sister, Tao Chittim of San Antonio; and his brother, Ciro Chittim of Boerne.
