James C. Fine, of Burlington City, passed away Friday March 10, 2017 at Cooper University Health System, Camden at the age of 55. Born in Tampa, FL, Jim was a longtime resident of Burlington City. He was a graduate of the Burlington County Institute of Technology and later earned an Associate’s Degree from Burlington County College and a Bachelor’s Degree from Rider University.
He was a graduate of the Burlington County Police Academy, Class 48, and served as a police officer for the City of Burlington, retiring in 2010, after 26 years of service. During his distinguished career, Jim served as a Patrolman, Sergeant and retired as a Police Lieutenant. He was a member of the Burlington County Joint Tactical Team and was a Charter Member of the Burlington City Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #63. Jim was a past member of the City of Burlington Fire Department, serving with the Niagara Hose Co., Hope Hose Co., and Endeavor Fire Companies.
After retirement from the police department, Jim worked as a proud team member of the Shoe Carnival Corporation, specializing in store security management. He also remained involved with the community, running for the Office of Mayor in the City of Burlington in 2010 and 2015. In his spare time he was an avid golfer and took great pride in coaching his children’s youth sports teams. Jim was predeceased by his parents Joseph A. and Carol A. (nee Bowker) Fine.
He is survived by his children; Melissa Bennett (James), Dana Fine, Diana Fine and Joseph Fine, his granddaughter Alexandra Bennett, his siblings; Mary Smith (Eugene), Louis H. Fine (Anne- Marie), Nancy Dowdy (Bruce), John Fine (Brittany), Maria Fine and Val Fine, his longtime friend Richard Fabi (Sandra) as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
