James David “Buddy” Brown, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, surrounded by family members at his home in Newnan. He was born on May 10, 1937, in Heard County to the late Louise Hinesley Brown and Cecil Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Ann Veal, Shirley Thurman, and Kenneth Brown. Shortly after joining the United States Army, Buddy married the love of his life, Patricia Y. Gore, and they remained married for 63 years. Buddy managed the Coweta County School Bus Garage for many years, retiring in 1999. Buddy is survived by his wife, Patricia; his two sons, Derwin David (Ellece) Brown, Holland Brown, and Mary Beth Brown, all of Newnan; and three grandchildren, Madeline Cooper (Trevor) of Grantville, Taylor Brown (Cody Anderson) of Newnan, and Noah Brown of Newnan. Buddy enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed being with his church family at New Lebanon Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School, and loving the children in the church. His favorite pastimes were fishing, racing, and working on cars in “The Dawg House” behind his home.
