James Bryan Anderson, age 76, passed away at his home in Destin on December 23, 2006. He was born in Greenwood, Florida, on August 4, 1930. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alma Peacock Anderson, and father, Robert Bargeron Anderson. His family moved to Andalusia, Alabama in the mid 1930’s to build a peanut shelling plant. James attended school in Andalusia. After his graduation from Andalusia High School, he attended Auburn University and graduated with a degree in Engineering in 1951. He returned to Andalusia and worked in his family owned business. Later when the Anderson Peanut Company expanded to Opp, Alabama, he was the manager for twenty years.
James retired in 1983 and moved to Destin, Florida. During his years in Destin, he served on the Destin Harbor Board and was a member of the Preservation of Destin organization.
James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen Bullard Anderson; daughters, Anita Page and husband Patrick of Mobile, Alabama, and Diane Smith and husband Greg of Niceville, Florida; sons, Bryan Anderson and wife Laura of Niceville, Florida, and Murray Anderson and wife Alice of Niceville, Florida; grandchildren, Jameson and Colin Page of Mobile, Alabama, Garrett and Carolyn Smith of Niceville, Florida, Robert and William Anderson of Niceville, Florida, and Daniel and Lauren Anderson of Niceville, Florida. James is also survived by his brothers, Glenn Anderson and wife Sarah of Andalusia, Alabama, and John Anderson and wife Evelyn of Destin, Florida; sister, Corrie Owens and husband Johnny of Andalusia, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.
