James passed away on May 24, 2023 peacefully at home holding the hand of Martha, his wife of 54 years, with his family at his side. James was born on August 7, 1945 to Vergie Mae (Tucker) and Ivan B. Riggins in Seymore, Texas.
James was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked for the potash mines for 31 years. James was a loving husband and father. Those left to treasure him are his wife, Martha, a daughter Loretta Burris and her husband Dwayne Burris, brother-in-law Humphrey Whitt, and his wife Nada, his grandkids David Burris, Ashley Burris and Blake of Sweetwater, Texas, James Elijah Riggins of Hobbs, and great-grandson Derrick Burris of Lubbock, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his son, Roger D. Riggins, eight sisters and two brothers, his mother and father.
