Blahut, James

On July 30, 2012 James passed on after a long battle with several illnesses.  He is survived by loving sister Sophie Catterton, nephew Frank Blahut and niece Lois Hammel. He was preceded in death by his sister the late Marie Rosso and brother the late Frank Blahut. He leaves behind numerous relatives and friends including Ed and Debbie Lutz who were his loving neighbors and friends.

Born September 18, 1920 in Curtis Bay, the youngest child of Frank and Josefa Blahut who both immigrated to America in 1906.

Employed by Glen L. Martin at the age of 18 as a draftsman, later he built airplanes and traveled throughout the U.S.A. and Europe as a liaison to the company.  He retired in 1955.

He served in the U.S. Army as a cook during WWII in Panama.      

Avid boater and fisherman. He trained on the drums by the late Joseph Svitak and played in his band. He also played in a few other bands for many years including his nephews’  “The Rosso Brothers Band”. Season ticket holder to The Baltimore Colts and avid Ravens fan. Lifetime member in the Sokol Gymnastic Association, member of the Bohemian Democratic Club, The American Legion and The Moose Club.

He was a confirmed bachelor and was generous to all members of his family and always ready to lend a hand when needed.
