James Berry Fane, 75, passed away on March 29, 2022, at home. Jim (J.B.) was born on January 19, 1947 in Newton, Iowa to Waldo and Harriett (Berry) Fane. Jim farmed with his grandfather Lloyd Berry then worked at Des Moines Asphalt and paving and then at Waste Management. He retired with severe COPD in 2009. Jim was a Vietnam veteran serving from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1969.
Jim enjoyed NASCAR racing, spending time working outside and his greatest love was spending Friday evenings playing UNO with his kids and grandsons. He told his stories and taught them new sayings. Jim married his wife Lynn (Smith) Fane in 1985.
Jim is survived by his wife Lynn, his children Kerry Ann Fane, Jimmy (Tracy Rassmussen) Fane, Kristien (Nate) Smith, his sisters Lois Fane and Mary Forrest, brother Dick Fane, his grandsons Dylan and Brady Eberline, and Kaden Baumgarten and Camden.
