Commander James (Jim) Bentley Droste, U. S. Navy, Retired, age 77, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016. Born in Chicago, IL on November 22, 1938, he was the son of Harold and Claire Bentley Droste. A member of the Unitarian Universalist church, he was a 1962 Graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He was very proud of his military service as a Submarine Commander. Preceded in death by his parents, Cmdr. Droste is survived by his high school sweetheart and longtime friend of 67 years, Judith Ann Droste; daughters, Karolyn Meldahl, Kimberly Smith, Kathleen Shook, Kelly Lynne Coppage (Rex Foster) and Lisa Michelle Pickard and husband, Jud; son, James Bentley Droste, Jr. and wife, Jacky of Portland, OR ; brother, William Droste of Michigan; numerous grandchildren.
