James B. Keane, 88, of Monterey Beach, NJ passed away Friday, November 21, 2014 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. Born in Newark, NJ, he grew up in Belleville, NJ and graduated from Belleville High School. He later lived in North Plainfield, NJ and summered in Monterey Beach from 1969 until moving there permanently in 1990. He served in the US Navy during WWII. James graduated from the Newark College of Engineering, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
He was an Electrical Engineer for AT&T in Basking Ridge for 34 years, retiring in 1983. James was a parishioner of the Parish of St. Pio, Lavallette, NJ and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was predeceased by his wife, Olive B. (nee Nowhark) in April 2013. James is survived by his 3 children James A. Keane and Kimberly of Brielle, NJ, Robert M. Keane and his wife Cindy of Lexington, SC, Diane Hammell and her husband John of Toms River, a sister Betty Ann Kirwin of Belleville, NJ, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
