James B. Greider, 80, of Jacksonville, IL and formerly of Winchester and Rantoul, IL died Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

He was born August 10, 1930 in Pontiac, IL; the son of Adolphus M. and Alice Verna Sinclair Greider. He married Rosemary Gouge on January 7, 1950 in Pontiac and she survives.

He is also survived by three children, James B. Greider Jr. (wife, Linda) of Rantoul, Kevin A. Greider (fiancé, Dianna Knapp) of Winchester, and Cheryl McDowell (husband, Jay) of Dayton, OH; six granddaughters, Beth Ann, Jennifer Lynn, Jerica, Taylor, Kelsey Jo, and Rachelle; three great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Lee Greider in infancy, three brothers, and four sisters.

Mr. Greider was employed by Johnson Moving and Storage of Rantoul for 23 years and later at Eisner Bakery in Champaign.

He retired at the age of 67 from General Telephone Company in Rantoul. He was a former member of the Rantoul Church of the Nazarene and later at the Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene. More recently, he attended and served as a volunteer with the Salvation Army in Jacksonville. He enjoyed tinkering, recycling, flower gardening, reading, and spending time with his family.
